On Friday, October 3, 2025, Furqan Mohammed sponsored and spoke at Chicagoland for Palestine, a fundraiser for Gaza relief at Ambiance Banquets in Villa Park.
The evening started with one mom asking herself a simple question: “What can I do to support the people of Gaza?” She did not wait for permission. She told her friends, they told theirs, and five people became fifty, then one hundred, then one hundred fifty. Event costs were covered by donors so that ticket proceeds could go to MATW for Gaza relief.
Doing What We Can With What We Have
In his remarks, Furqan explained why he felt compelled to support the effort. As he put it, the organizers could have spent the night catching up over dinner. Instead, they chose purpose over routine and turned a casual gathering into a night of impact.
Our everyday moments, our dinners, our group chats, our hangouts, can be transformed into acts of service. Intention matters. But intention coupled with action? That’s where real change begins.

The evening was a reminder that you do not need to run a relief organization to help. Time, a network, a dinner table, or a ticket can all be put to use. This event was not a professionally orchestrated campaign. It was a room full of people moved by sincerity, not perfection.

Furqan thanked everyone who showed up, donated, and amplified the cause. His full speech is posted on Facebook.
He has supported humanitarian causes for Gaza and Palestine before, including a charitable fundraiser for the Palestinian American Medical Association.
