On October 4, 2025, Furqan Mohammed sponsored and attended the fundraising dinner for Barakah Masjid, a new mosque and community center opening in the Edgebrook neighborhood on Chicago’s north side. The new center will serve a diverse community, and Furqan said he couldn’t be more excited for what’s to come.
Our mosques must be more than places where doors open and close for prayer. They should be the heartbeat of our neighborhoods.
Furqan Mohammed

More Than a Place to Pray
The message of the evening was clear. A mosque should be a place of gathering, healing, and learning: somewhere anyone can find solace in times of distress, and where families, friends, and neighbors come together to find stability amid the chaos of everyday life.
Barakah Masjid is building exactly that, a home where generations of Muslim Americans can anchor their identity, build community, and grow in faith.
Supporting Community Institutions
Furqan has supported other community efforts too, including a fundraiser for the Ojala Foundation, and he leads community education sessions at local mosques and community centers.
