On Saturday, August 29, 2026, Furqan Mohammed served as the main speaker at the first annual Muslim Pre-Law Conference, held at the College Preparatory School of America (CPSA) in Lombard. LawyerFurqan.com sponsored the conference, which brought Muslim high school and college students from DuPage County and the western suburbs together with their parents and with practicing lawyers for a free morning of sessions on law school and legal careers.
Why the Conference Mattered
The goal was to help the next generation of Muslims understand what the practice of law actually involves, and to decide whether law school is the right fit for them. For Furqan, it filled a gap he knew firsthand.
Growing up, resources like this simply did not exist. There were few opportunities for Muslim students and families to learn about the legal profession, understand the law school journey, or connect with lawyers who had already navigated that path.

What the Conference Covered
- A parents’ panel. Families learned what to expect as their children pursue law, including how to evaluate law schools, understand law school finances, and support students through the admissions process.
- A student breakout session. Aspiring lawyers worked through practical strategies for positioning themselves for admission to top law schools and building the skills needed to succeed in the profession.
- A lawyers’ panel. Attorneys shared their personal journeys into law, the lessons they learned along the way, and what their day-to-day practice looks like across different areas of the profession.

Furqan’s Path and His Ties to CPSA
Furqan drew on his own route into the profession. He earned a BS in psychology at Loyola University Chicago and his JD at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, then opened his own personal injury practice. For students in Lombard, Villa Park, Addison, and the surrounding DuPage communities, the morning was a chance to ask a practicing Muslim attorney what the work is really like, and what it takes to get there.
CPSA is familiar ground. Furqan has taught Intro to Law at the school, and previously hosted a fireside chat with Illinois State Representative Nabeela Syed for students there. He has also spoken at the National Association of Muslim Law Students conference in Washington, D.C. and delivered a guest lecture on U.S. personal injury law to Pakistani law students.
Now more than ever, our communities need individuals pursuing careers that embody justice, advocacy, service, and leadership. The legal profession remains one of the most powerful ways to make a meaningful impact, and I hope this conference helped inspire future lawyers to take the next step.
